I’m Alexandra Vessey, and I am an accredited professional hypnotherapist and I absolutely LOVE my job.

Still going strong 10 years later – Alexandra Hypnotherapy is a love affair sent by fate that started in 2013.

It’s hard to confess it but back then I was at a real low point in my life.

I’d been made redundant from my last professional career job and the business I had started to pay the bills wasn’t working and I hated it.

Could Alexandra Hypnotherapy be fate?

By a weird set of coincidences, I found myself in a free presentation on how to become a hypnotherapist.

People talk about “finding the answer” or an “epiphany moment” with careers and instantly this was mine.

I also discovered on that very first day I was unnaturally good at it. I don’t like to brag, but it was obvious to all there I had finally found my talent.

I knew right there and then – after years of unsatisfying career paths – that this was my perfect job – and I was meant to do it.

I was living off my savings with no income but I signed up on the spot and made my first payment for the first module of a high four-figure professional course.

Later the very same day, I was unexpectedly offered a lucrative part time job in my old career that would pay for the course and give me enough time to study.

A year later, on the exact day I qualified as a hypnotherapist, I was made redundant from the job and handed an unexpected and unmerited redundancy package which paid for my rent on my first office and for some advertising.

I called my business Alexandra Hypnotherapy because I wanted you to instantly connect my name and face to my business – and Alexandra Vessey Hypnotherapy is too much of a mouthful.

My first client booked in two days after my advert went live.

A year later, I was fully booked with a waiting list and I have never looked back.

The clues I should be helping you

Now that shouldn’t have been a surprise. The clues that this was my path have always been there.

Unlike most normal kids, one of my earliest ambitions was to be an agony aunt and I liked to dispense “advice” to my friends on pretty much anything whether they wanted my “help” or not.

But back in the 1990s careers officers didn’t tell kids to become hypnotherapists or even therapists. Mine just shrugged at me so I simply pursued the school subjects I liked with no clue as to what I should become.

At university, while everyone else was signing up to exciting activities – I joined the Advice Centre – the university version of the Citizen’s Advice Bureau so I could spend my free time restructuring other students’ debt and fighting their unscrupulous landlords – unpaid and just for fun.

Even my name was a pointer to my real path.

Alexandra means “helper” or “defender” of mankind, so I guess I was born to want to be helpful to others!

And just for good measure – I even share a birthday with the UKs most famous agony aunt, Claire Raynor.

If that’s not a sign – I don’t know what is! Haha!

I created my dream job

Now, I’m living the dream – well mine at least – running a busy hypnotherapy clinic in Mexborough, South Yorkshire and worldwide online.

After years of seeing anyone and everyone – my biggest interests lie in helping regular people resolve very everyday fears and problems so they can get back on with lives easily – without waiting for NHS treatments and where possible, without resorting to medications.

And trust me – there is no better feeling than seeing a client leave happy – problem vanished with an exciting future full of possibilities.

That’s the reward.
